Last week we were thrilled to have U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar visit us and take a factory tour. We chatted with her about our 100 year history, our design process and commitment to making products in America. The Senator took the time to meet with our team; from leather cutters to product developers and spent over an hour getting to know us. Each and every time we give a tour it reminds us what an important role we are playing in creating jobs and supporting U.S. manufacturing, and the Senator couldn’t have agreed more. Here’s what she posted on her Facebook page later that day:
“The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce has been holding workforce training sessions for a reason–we need to train our students for the jobs of the future. There are many skilled workers retiring & at the same time we are seeing an uptick in Made in America manufacturing. J.W. Hulme Co., which I visited yesterday is a good example. Over 100 years ago they started making awnings in St. Paul and now they make beautiful leather purses & packs. They just hired new sewers & are planning to hire more! Check out their showroom at 678 7th Street West St. Paul.”
The best part? We just might have a new customer! Check out the Senator perusing our catalog. We think the Mini Excursion Tote would be perfect for her on the campaign trail. Or any of our fine leather tech accessories, perfect for any woman on-the-go!

On Wednesday morning, the fabulous members of the Women’s Organization of the Minnesota Historical Society (WOMHS) paid us a visit. While they were here, WOMHS took a tour our workshop and learned a bit about our 100-plus-year history. They enjoyed some treats from local pastry shop Bread & Chocolate, and got to take a sneak peek at some of our new Fall styles. See a few snapshots below from their visit.
They shopped our show room.
Learned about our history as a St. Paul, Minnesota landmark.
And took a tour of our workshop, lead by sales manager, Kim.
Polyvore has become our latest obsession (shh don’t tell Pinterest). We love browsing all the outfits and seeing how women style our leather handbags.
New to Polyvore? Here are the basics: you upload your favorite products or browse products from other people and then can pick and choose products to style in different outfits. Or as they would say,
“Polyvore is the web’s largest community of tastemak ers where people can discover their style and set trends around the world. Trendseekers and shoppers alike come to Polyvore to discover the hottest brands, products, trends and looks.”
Take a look at all the different ways women have styled our Legacy and Mini Legacy handbags. It’s such a classic handbag that can really be worn with anything!
Don’t forget to check us out on Polyvore, and if you style an outfit with one of our bags make sure you share it with us on facebook!

This last Spring we fell in love with our new leather, Bare Pewter. This fall we fell in love again when we saw how wonderfully Bare Pewter ages with use. Bare Pewter is a full grain leather from a domestic tannery and it’s soft hand makes it the perfect choice for handbags. Its cool grey mineral tone compliments both spring and fall looks. Take a look at what your Bare Pewter Legacy would look like new and after several months of use.
